Legal

Rhododendra was built for the benefit of the public and the Rhododendron community. Succession planning is part of the design: the project’s software, photos, and plant information should be legally usable by another individual or organization if needed.

Software

Rhododendra’s software is free and open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later (GPL-3.0-or-later). In practical terms, you may use, study, modify, and share the software, including for commercial purposes, provided you follow the GPL terms and preserve those same software freedoms for others.

Photos

New photos accepted by Rhododendra are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0). This licence lets the public use the photos royalty-free, including in newsletters, books, websites, journals, nursery plant tags, and similar uses, provided proper attribution is given to the original photographer.

Some legacy photos are marked as Copyright instead of CC BY 4.0. Those photos may not be reused without the copyright holder’s permission. If you are the copyright holder for any of these legacy photos, please contact me so your photos can be released under CC BY 4.0. Legacy photos that cannot be licensed this way may eventually need to be replaced.

Content
