Extra Information The name 'tigerstedtii' honours Dr. Carl Gustav Tigerstedt. (1886-1957), Helsinki, Finland. Nationality: Finnish. In 1931, arboretum Mustila in S-E Finland received rhododendron seeds from Korea. Dr. Tigerstedt started to use the name R. koreanum aff. brachycarpum, but never officially described it. Tor G. Nitzelius found in his 1976 expedition to Japan and Korea the original "tigerstedtii".
